Organizations around the world are moving fast towards greater mobility for all users, this is introducing many risks associated with the kind of data residing on those devices. While the traditional security model focused on the perimeter this new challenge that has been introduced by the increasingly mobile workforce is forcing security professionals around the world to rethink there strategy on securing the information life cycle. Statiscs show that 60% of information theft results from lost or stolen equipment; only 25% from network intrusion. In short, every laptop, PC, USB drive, PDA or smart phone is a potential weak point - unless you have the necessary controls in place. This presentation will focus on techniques to keep your data secure on the move.

About Ahmad

Ahmad Elkhatib is a currently a security consultant with Pointsec, a leader in mobile device security and encryption, where he provides technical consultancy to Pointsec customers around the world. Previous to that Ahmad was an Information Security Consultant at InnoKAT where he helped top enterprises in the region by designing and implementing their security strategies.Ahmad also worked at iDEFENSE where he started as a Vulnerability Research Engineer. He later worked as a Malicious Code Analyst as part of the Malicious Code Team. In this role, Elkhatib analyzed, assessed and reported on cyber threats to Fortune 100 customers. Prior to that Ahmad worked with British Telecom’s BTExact as a wireless Network Security Engineer.

Ahmad holds a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. He is a member of the Information Systems Security Association and is BS7799 and CISSP certified and has presented at various security conferences around the world including HackInTheBox, MEITSEC, and PAKCON
