Presentation Title: Telecom Infrastructure Security: the SS7 protocols
Presentation Abstract:

Telecommunications networks are a critical part of any national infrastructure. The SS7 signalling network is the backbone that enables all digital communications and as such is the most sensitive part of the system. This presentation will introduce the suite of SS7 protocols, study their security model and review the resulting threats and potential countermeasures. A demonstration on the experimental 7bone.net testbed will present several tools from the SecuritySuite7 used to analyze SS7 networks security.

About Emmanuel

Emmanuel has been involved with GSM telecommunications since 1994, participating in the launch of many mobile networks in Southeast-Asia and Europe, with a focus on Intelligent Networks and Value-Added Services. He also co-founded the Telecom Security Task Force which specializes in the auditing of telecom networks. Emmanuel has published several papers on the topic of telecommunications security and has been advising network operators on the topics of fraud control, SS7 hardening, lawful interception and infrastructure protection.
