MyTeksi Offers RM10 Ride Rebate for Hackers, Makers, Breakers and Builders Attending #HITB2013KUL

October 2nd, Kuala Lumpur: From 16 – 17 October, MyTeksi will be offering a RM10 ride rebate for all attendees of the 11th annual HITBSecConf at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and for all participants of the 24-hour HackWEEKDAY developer hackathon taking place on-site.

Attendees who book and travel to the HITBSecConf venue via the MyTeksi app over the 2-day event period can claim their fare rebates at the MyTeksi booth, located within the HITB CommSec village – an open-to-public exhibition area that runs alongside the 2-day conference.

Core developers from the MyTeksi team will also be on-site at this year’s HackWEEKDAY to work with developers on a community service SOS application aimed at creating a crowd-sourced crime reporting system with Facebook integration. By hooking into MyTeksi’s existing network, developers will have the ability to push these SOS alerts to taxi drivers operating within the MyTeksi network.

HackWEEKDAY is sponsored by Mozilla Corporation, Facebook and Microsoft with the aim of highlighting and discovering the next generation of software developers. Targeting 100 developers in total, registration for the 24-hour hackathon is completely free with prizes including USD1337 in cash for the ‘most l33t coder’ – judged by a panel of experts from Mozilla, Facebook, Microsoft and HITB.

“MyTeksi is incredibly happy to be a part of this innovative initiative,” says MyTeksi Regional Head of Marketing, Cheryl Goh. “Our current success in bringing positive social change to Malaysia cannot be achieved without our local talents of programmers. In addition to the great reviews from previous HackWEEKDAY events, MyTeksi is extremely excited to support and be part of this initiative.”

The CommSec exhibition area is open to the public from 0900 – 1800 so MyTeksi users and members of the public can come to meet with and engage the MyTeksi team who will be on hand both days to address any feedback or queries relating to their increasingly popular service and application.

“With MyTeksi onboard as our official RIde Partner, we’re hoping even more developers take advantage of the savings offered to come and support participants in the competition and of course to meet with the security and development teams from Facebook, Microsoft and Mozilla”, said Hafez Kamal, Lead Organizer for HackWEEKDAY
