Hardcore Photography: How I Hacked My DSLR

PRESENTATION SLIDES (PDF)

Own a DSLR camera? Then you own an extremely advanced embedded computer. Question is can you hack it?

Over the past six months I’ve created PHDK an open source project which allows developers to write new functionality in relative safety (no relation to CHDK).

This has involved breaking the obfuscation of the original binary, finding hidden functionality, performing hardcore reverse engineering and most importantly trying to not brick my expensive camera.

Not interested in cameras? The skills and tools I’ll describe are applicable to hacking a wide range of embedded devices.
