David Dahl

David Dahl is the Crypton Project Director at SpiderOak helping to usher the privacy-enbling mobile & desktop framework, Crypton, onto a production footing. With over 15 years in software engineering experience, David came to SpiderOak from Mozilla Corporation where he worked as a Senior Privacy Engineer.

While at Mozilla, David helped found the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Cryptography Working Group via his work on DOMCrypt, a cryptography extension for the Firefox web browser. Previously, David worked at Industrial Light + Magic in San Francisco building a knowledgebase helping George Lucas’ artists document special effects software, techniques and processes. David’s work over the past decade has varied from contractor at Apple Computer, Networking Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory, consulting in Chicago’s trading houses and bootstrapping startup companies.

David works out of his underground bunker somewhere south of Chicago.
