Kevin Backhouse Research Engineer, Semmle

Kev is a security research engineer at Semmle, where he focuses on finding vulnerabilities in C/C++ applications using variant analysis. He is the author of Semmle’s range analysis and global value numbering libraries for C/C++ and has written or contributed to several other libraries and queries that are used to produce C/C++ security alerts on LGTM.com. Prior to becoming a security researcher, he spent most of his career working as a compiler engineer. His compiler experience includes working on MATLAB Coder and the ARM C/C++ compiler. He has a DPhil in Computing from Oxford University (UK) and an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University (UK).
